P03

Ended: Transcriptional Mechanisms of Atrial Remodelling and Arrhythmia

Project Summary

This project investigates molecular and cellular mechanisms of atrial remodelling and arrhythmogenesis during atrial fibrillation, the most prevalent type of arrhythmia in humans. Structural and electrophysiological remodelling are essential hallmarks of atrial fibrillation, associated with pronounced and dynamic changes in the heterocellular nature of atrial myocardium. P03 will explore atrial cell type-specific gene regulation, mediated by the transcription factor ETV1, in vitro and in vivo, and project the links identified in transgenic models to genetics and pathophysiology of atrial fibrillation in different species.
